Dino Dash: complete guide

Rules, tips and answers for this free browser mini-game.

About this game

Dino Dash is an endless runner starring a robot dinosaur sprinting through a neon skyline. The track never stops, so the only decisions you make are when to jump and when to duck. Ground obstacles have to be cleared with a jump; drones fly at head height and have to be ducked under. Both appear at random intervals, and the run speeds up continuously with distance, which slowly turns comfortable reactions into desperate ones. Your score is the distance covered in metres, and your personal best is kept on your own device so every run has something to beat.

How to play

  • Press Space or the up arrow to jump. On mobile, tap the track or the JUMP pad.
  • Hold the down arrow, S, or the DUCK pad to slide under drones.
  • Clear green ground cores by jumping; go under red drones by ducking.
  • The distance counter is your score and rises the whole time you survive.
  • Hitting anything ends the run immediately.

Game rules

  • Obstacle type, size and spacing are randomised each run.
  • Running speed increases continuously with distance travelled.
  • You can only jump from the ground — there is no double jump.
  • Ducking only works while grounded.
  • Your best distance is stored locally on this device.

Tips to improve your score

  • Jump late rather than early; the hitbox is smaller than the sprite looks.
  • Do not hold duck by default — you cannot jump out of it instantly.
  • Watch the height at which an obstacle spawns to decide jump or duck early.
  • At high speed, keep your eyes on the right edge of the screen, not the dino.
  • Short recovery matters more than raw reaction: reset your stance after each obstacle.

Difficulty

Medium — approachable for a hundred metres, sharp after three hundred.

Average play time

20 to 60 seconds per run.

Skills this game improves

  • Reaction time under increasing speed
  • Decision making between two responses
  • Sustained visual attention

Why people enjoy this challenge

Offline runners became a cultural fixture because they ask one thing of you and ask it forever. Dino Dash keeps that purity but adds a second verb: with both jump and duck in play, you are choosing rather than merely reacting, which makes each new personal best feel earned instead of lucky.
